Great camas (Camassia leichtlinii): The bulb of great camas is edible and highly valued by Coast Salish people. Its deep purple flowers are a delight each spring. Plant bulbs 3 – 4 inches deep in early fall in a sunny location. Camas does well in soils that are moist in winter and spring, but dry out in summer. Bulbs will multiply over time. If protected from deer, plants grow 1 – 1.5 feet tall. Perennial. Cost $4 for 3 bulbs. Limit one order of 3 bulbs per person, please.
