Partner Event | Afternoon Adventures – Seniors Nature Walk from Frazer Homestead Preserve to American Camp, San Juan Island

May 18 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Get in touch with nature and its many benefits this summer! Land Bank staff member, Tanja Williamson, will lead a series of walks on Land Bank preserves across San Juan Island. These walks are geared towards seniors (60+) and great for the beginner to intermediate walker.

We leave from the Mullis Community Senior Center at 1pm. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring any water/snacks you may want for an enjoyable excursion.

This month is a special opportunity to learn about the federally endangered Island Marble Butterfly. Land Bank staff will offer a peek at the butterfly habitat they’ve created at Middlewood Preserve and will share the fascinating life history and story of this rare insect.  Then we’ll walk the American Camp Trail along Frazer Homestead Preserve to the American Camp visitor center, with more opportunities to see butterfly habitat plots along the way. It’s unlikely, though possible, that we’ll even see an Island Marble Butterfly on the wing (binoculars are good for viewing).

Registration required to plan accordingly for transportation from the Mullis Center. Please contact Anna at info@mulliscenter.org or phone 360-370-4015 to register and let her know if you’ll be riding with the group or providing your own transportation.
