Director’s Note | Summer 2025

July 1, 2025

For a moment, I wondered if we were going to miss out on June-uary and its cool respite before summer’s warmth settled. But happily Summer Solstice and rain coincided, and our Preserves received another soaking before this week’s temperatures climb. Summer is a season of full sun and growth, and we look forward to making headway on the Beaverton Marsh trail connector. (Update inside!)

The recent low tides also provided some moments of awe for all ages. School groups, families, and friends visited many of our natural areas to see some of the spectacular biodiversity that exists in our intertidal zones.

The Land Bank conserves roughly 14 miles of natural shorelines throughout the County and these areas are significant for so many reasons, for salmon, for shorebirds, and for us to remember our shared community identity as islanders.
