Sea blush in bloom at the Family Resource gardenParticipants will learn the basics of how to garden with a diverse array of native and near-native wildflowers and grasses. Topics will include where to get plants and seeds; how and when and where to plant them; nurturing wildlife; and how to maximize sustainability/minimize plastics and resource use.

At the Family Resource Center Garden on San Juan Island, designer Jenny Harris will share the creation of an unconventional, wild-like garden that thrives in poor soil and sand.  At the Salish Seeds Project nursery, nursery manager Eliza Habegger will introduce another cast of native plant characters and how to grow them at home.  The nursery also features a green/living roof planted exclusively with local species.

Limited to 12 participants. Registration is required. RSVP to Tanja Williamson at 360-370-7655 or email tanjaw@sjclandbank.org.
