Public Scoping Meeting for San Juan Island’s Beaverton Marsh Preserve

July 17, 2025

Join the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank for a public scoping meeting on July 31, 2025, and help shape an updated Beaverton Marsh Preserve Stewardship and Management Plan (SMP), which includes the recently proposed trail project to connect the facilities at John O. Linde Community Park with the trails on the westside of the preserve. The proposed project would include 0.3 mile of new trail and a 300-foot boardwalk crossing the marsh, and improvements of existing trails. The scoping meeting will also cover ecological, agricultural, and cultural elements that are in consideration of the updated  SMP.

I look forward to a rich discussion and hearing what our community values as we go forward with this project,” said Land Bank Commissioner, Marilyn O’Connor.

The meeting will take place from 6pm to 7pm at the Mullis Community Senior Center. The community is invited to learn about potential stewardship actions as well as identify issues or concerns that may be addressed in the planning process.

Can’t make the meeting in person? Meeting materials will be posted on the Land Bank website the Friday prior to the meeting. Written comments can be submitted by email to tanjaw@sjclandbank.org.
