Bats by Moonlight

with UW PhD Candidate, Rochelle Kelly

This evening field trip is an opportunity to learn about our local bat species, how they fit into the ecology of the islands, and how they utilize our preserve lands.  Rochelle will demonstrate methods used in surveying bat populations, including mist netting and audio monitoring.

We will learn about island bat’s distinguishing features and natural history, as well as questions being asked by researchers who study these remarkable creatures.

Meet in the parking lot.  Be sure to bring warm clothing and headlamps/flashlights are recommended.
