Hunting Access Information

San Juan County Conservation Land Bank Hunting Procedures

Hunting at Land Bank Preserves (Lopez Hill and Mount Grant) is limited to Black-tail deer only between September 1st to October 31st.

There is no hunting allowed at either preserve before September 1, 2023 or after November 1, 2023. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife seasons may extend beyond these dates.

Review and follow all Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife hunting regulations. Note that San Jan County is a Firearm Restriction Area that prohibits use of high powered rifles.

San Juan County Code (9.08) requires hunters carry written permission from land owners for discharge of firearms including hunting. Please contact the Land Bank to receive written permission prior to hunting. Click here for a printable PDF of hunting information for Lopez Hill Preserve; please email Outreach Coordinator, Tanja Williamson at tanjaw@sjclandbank.org to obtain your letter of permission.

For Mount Grant Preserve, the Land Bank participates in WDFW’s online reservation system. Reservations will consist of one hunting party per day. The reservation confirmation will serve as written permission for Mount Grant Preserve on San Juan Island.
