Watmough Addition
If your Land Bank was a rock band, its 2022 conservation efforts would be an album of the year nominee, the cover of which would feature three incredible acquisitions – Watmough Addition (Lopez Island), North Shore Property (Orcas Island) and Cady Mountain Addition (San Juan Island) – protecting a total of 109 acres, including almost 3,000 feet of shoreline.

North Shore Property
And as with any great album, the “behind the scenes” production crew played a big part in shaping the year’s conservation efforts. Highlights include local partner, the San Juan Preservation Trust, who committed to nearly $3.7M for purchase of conservation easements; $1.5M in grant funding for salmon recovery and aquatic lands enhancement at Watmough; over 70 community events – work parties, guided preserve tours, community conversation series – and over 800 volunteer hours logged on county preserves, 625 of which went towards public trail construction!
