All Islanders Day – Sundays on the Summit
Come one, come ALL islanders to this special day on the mountain. Enjoy music, refreshments and the expansive views. Free shuttles will be provided to take visitors to the the Summit (private cars are not allowed on this day). Walk-ons in Friday Harbor from the 11:20 a.m. arriving interisland ferry will be met by San Juan Transit, or park and ride a free shuttle from the Friday Harbor High School parking lot. (Click here for shuttle schedule) Once at the preserve, hike or take a ride to the top, where you’ll find refreshments and entertainment.
Come experience the “WOW” factor at the top of Mount Grant Preserve. This special place is being permanently protected, thanks to the generosity of islanders and visitors who have contributed to the fundraising effort “Campaign for Mount Grant Preserve“.
The preserve is open daily to hikers. Driving access to the summit will be open, weather permitting, from noon to 6 pm, so everyone, regardless of physical ability, is able to say “WOW” when they arrive at the top. If you have yet to see what all the excitement is about, take a drive or a hike and see for yourself!
Directions: From the Friday Harbor courthouse, take Guard Street out of town. Guard Street becomes Beaverton Valley Rd, which becomes West Valley Rd. At approximately 4.9 miles out of Friday Harbor, look for a “Campaign for Mount Grant Preserve” sign on the left. Turn left and drive ahead to parking, before the closed gate.
