Spring is here. The trill of Redwing blackbirds is emerging in the wetlands, tree frogs are hopping along the understory, and a migrating Mountain Bluebird was spotted on Turtleback Mountain Preserve last week. It seems flora and fauna are teeming with anticipation for milder weather, and your Conservation Land Bank right along with them.
Last week the Terrestrial Manager’s Group (TMG) gathered together for the first time since 2020. The TMG, a collaboration of nonprofit and governmental land managers, work together to inspire a shared vision for local conservation lands. This year’s topics included conservation planning, visitor engagement, vegetation management and how to balance recreation with stewardship of natural and cultural resources.
And, closer to home, be sure to tune in to our next Community Conversations Series to hear about what’s going on at some of our new and not-so-new Preserves! Additionally, we’ll do a bit of myth busting about all things Land Bank. Curious about how much land is conserved? What is the value of Land Bank property relative to the rest of County? Conserved land and its impact on your taxes? We’ve got answers. We look forward to engaging with our community and discussing our public lands.
