National Public Lands Day – Great Islands Clean Up!
Saturday, September 30th will mark National Public Lands Day! Come celebrate with other Lopezians as we give the island a good cleaning during our Great Islands Clean Up.
Follow the signs to the side parking area of Blossom Natural Foods at 10:00 am for registration, maps and safety vests. (Early arrivals get designer T-shirts!) Help pick up trash, flotsam and recycling along ten roadside areas and five beaches, each rated from easy to tough. Bring your buddies or find new friends. Trash will go to the Public Works building nest to the Dump by 2:00 pm. This event is student-friendly. Special kudos for low carbon transport—Bike your recycling or Wheel your garbage!
This county-wide event will also occur on San Juan, Orcas and Shaw; click here for clean up events on those islands. Last spring 120 people took part in the Great Island Clean Up on Lopez. Can we get 200 for fall? This will be fun!
