The San Juan County Land Bank and the San Juan Preservation Trust are teaming up for Washington’s annual Orca Recovery Day by planting Garry oaks and native prairie forbs on Turtleback Mountain Preserve.

How does planting trees help our Southern Resident orca? Targeted reforestation and habitat restoration can have an impact on the entire downstream ecosystem. The health of land and sea are connected and are reliant on each other to be biologically productive and diverse.

Sign up to join a “planting pod” below! Each pod will be limited to 12 people total, volunteers will be physically distanced, proper sanitation will be practiced, and mask wearing will be required when working closer than 6ft apart- in accordance with SJI County Phase 2 guidelines.

Please sign up below so we can coordinate teams and send additional information.
