Throughout the month of July 2021, the San Juan County Land Bank is launching a fun, interactive discussion to help gauge the prevailing perspectives of San Juan County community members. Pitched to the Land Bank by local high school student Kaj Litch, who’ll be administering the project for his internship, the Pol.is advanced survey/polling software utilizes new technology that enables participants to comment on short statements and submit statements of their own.
As the comments accumulate, algorithms identify points of consensus. This approach is quite different from typical surveys because the conversation and direction of the survey evolves in real time through the interactions of participants. We hope this technology-guided conversation about the Land Bank’s role in and impact on the community will aid us in future responsiveness, particularly around controversial issues.
