News from, Giles, co-coordinator of the San Juan Island Naturalist Program – a pilot program of the Salish Sea Association of Marine Naturalists (SSAMN), Whale Scout and the Land Bank.
The program is going really well so far. We have had naturalists out at the Westside Preserve for a total of 9 days so far (this equates to 13 shifts which equal 39 hours). We have engaged 175 people already! Folks all seem really glad to have us out there to answer questions and to just make contact with someone on the island. Most have several questions to ask, not only about the whales but the island, other animals they can hope to see, what other things there are to do while on their vacations here, etc…”
