The Land Bank will begin burning small piles on Turtleback Mountain Preserve this week under a permit from Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This work follows strict protocols designed to ensure safety and to minimize impacts on air quality. It is a necessary part of fuels management associated with ongoing forest stewardship by the Land Bank in partnership with the San Juan Islands Conservation District.
Pile burning will occur periodically under appropriate conditions during the winter and spring. For additional information, please click here or contact Preserve Steward Peter Guillozet at (360) 298-0052.
