The Salish Seeds Project enables restoration of native wildflowers and grasses in the San Juan Islands. Plants and seeds of species native to coastal grasslands, oak savannahs, and rocky meadows are produced at a nursery located at Red Mill Farm on San Juan Island. In a fruitful partnership, The San Juan Preservation Trust owns the property and the Land Bank runs the nursery. Grants and private donations have funded nearly all the nursery infrastructure.
Most of the plants and seed produced by the Salish Seeds Project are used to restore Land Bank preserves, and other conservation lands. Occasional sales events offer the general public a chance to buy smaller quantities of select species. And anyone is welcome to purchase larger quantities of plants by advance order.
Master Gardeners and other volunteers provide valuable assistance running the nursery. Contact Tanja Williamson at 360.370.7655 or email tanjaw@sjclandbank.org to sign up for volunteer announcements, as well as receive notification of upcoming plants sales or other nursery events.
