Native Wildflower Sale 2024 Ordering Instructions Etc.
Welcome to the Salish Seeds Project’s 2024 Fall Native Wildflower Sale. The San Juan County Conservation Land Bank hosts this opportunity to purchase locally grown wildflowers native to San Juan County. Reserve your plants online September 15 – 20, and pick them up on Saturday, October 5 at designated locations on San Juan, Lopez, Orcas Islands. All plants are produced by the Salish Seeds Project, a joint program of the Land Bank and the San Juan Preservation Trust.
Ordering instructions – please read!: Plants must be reserved online. To reserve plants, click on the plant image from the product gallery below; click “add to cart.” After all plants have been added to cart, go to cart and update desired quantities when completing check–out. Plant images will be removed when they are out of stock. If you don’t see the plant, it is no longer available for purchase. No payment will be required at check-out; we are unable to process online payments at this time. However, checking out is required in order to complete your reservation and select a pick-up location. Following check-out, you will receive an email confirming your order. Payment will be due when you pick up your plants.
Plant pickup: Be sure to bring payment in the form of check payable to the SJC Land Bank or exact change. Plants must be picked up on Saturday, October 5 between 11am – 12 pm. The Land Bank does not have space to hold plants. Pick up locations listed below:

Blue wild-rye (Elymus glaucus): This vigorous, tall, perennial bunchgrass grows locally in prairies and the edges of woodlands. It’s deer-resistant and drought-tolerant. Plant in full sun to part-shade in well-drained soil. Flowering stalks can be 3 feet or more tall. Interplant with robust native perennials to create a tall, wild meadow or border. $5 for a 4” pot.

California oatgrass (Danthonia californica): California oatgrass is a lovely addition to native meadow plantings. Low-growing bunchgrasses develop gracefully drooping flowering heads in mid-summer. California oatgrass likes well-drained soil but is adaptable to a variety of moisture conditions and is drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. Full sun is best. Perennial. $6 for a 4” pot.

Prairie woodrush (Luzula subsessilis): This small grass-like plant is under 1 foot tall and is a great choice for mixing with wildflowers and grasses in a meadow or prairie setting. Choose full sun to part-shade and average, well-drained soil. Deer-resistant. Perennial. $4 for a 4” pot.
